John" Jack" Francis Ring, age 95 of Oxford, the beloved husband of the late Ruth Redington Ring entered into eternal rest peacefully at Shady Knoll Health Care on Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born in Derby, on November 9, 1922, son of the late William H. and Rose (Carroll) Ring. Jack was a devout communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Jack also taught CCD classes at St. Jude Church in Derby. He graduated from Derby High School where he played football and ran track. Jack then went to Providence College in RI, and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. He served with pride and honor in the US Navy during WWII and served on the ship USS LCI 603 as a signal man. He was a lifetime member of the National LCI Association and attended a number of annual Association reunions throughout the country. Jack was a volunteer for AARP and helped seniors with their tax preparations and driving skills. He was a retired Accountant for Textron in Bridgeport where he had worked for 10 years and formerly worked for US Rubber Company in Naugatuck and Singer Company in Bridgeport. Jack was a special deputy in the New Haven County Sheriff's Department for 10 years. His loving family includes his caring son Thomas J. Ring and his wife Tracy of Bristol and his loving daughter Regina Potter and her husband Frederick of Oxford, seven cherished grandchildren, twelve cherished great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his former wife Carol Carpenter Ring. Jack was predeceased by his beloved brother William H Ring and his beloved sister Mary Carroll Ratchford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Road, Oxford. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum with Full Military Honors Accorded, at Mount St. Peter's Cemetery in Derby. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Rt. 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
