June Marie Mitchell

June Marie Mitchell, age 88, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Edward N. Mitchell, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Shady Knoll Healthcare Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Haven on November 29, 1928, daughter of the late Eugene W. and Helen (King) Gracy. June was a devout communicant of St. Augustine Church in Seymour. She worked for Ideal Manufacturing Co. before retiring in 1992. She was a member of David S. Miles Post #174, Ladies Auxiliary. June was an avid homemaker who loved caring for her family especially her grandchildren. She loved the beach, especially out on Long Island where she spent many summers with her family. June will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. June's loving family includes her son Leonard E. Mitchell and his wife Cheryl of Medway, MA, her daughter Deborah L. Mitchell of Derby, a brother John Gracy of Beacon Falls, five cherished grandchildren Shayla, Alyssa, Zackery, Taylor and Madison and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Doreen Mitchell, a sister Jean Young and a brother James Gracy. Friends and relatives can pay respects at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. A Funeral Service in Celebration of June's Life will take place at the funeral home at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Church, 35 Washington Ave, Seymour. Interment will be in the family plot at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
