Patricia Ann Kozey, 51, of Seymour entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 4, 2014. She was born in Derby, CT on October 4, 1962 the beloved daughter of Russell R. and Patricia Zern Kozey of Seymour. Her loving family in addition to her parents includes her beloved sons Ross Van Nostrand and his wife Jennifer (Neves) of Seymour and Edmund Garrett Rioux of Seymour, a caring brother Jim Kozey of Seymour and several aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. Patty was devoted to her two Prided sons Ross Michael and Edmund Garrett and their many accomplishments. She loved supporting her sons Academics and Athletic accomplishments and loved traveling with them to all their games throughout New England and New York and would follow them to play-offs in Florida and Las Vegas, and considered amongst soccer and basketball Moms as a prideful and knowledgeable Mom. She recently gained a wonderful daughter-in-law whom she considered "daughter", Jen. Patty's kind and considerate personality was infectious to all she came in contact with not only towards those she knew. She was employed at Yale University EdU since January 20, 1997. She worked in various departments most recently promoted to Human Research Protection Program as a financial analyst, and her bubbly spirit would help her through her physical difficulties. She championed Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 1990. She began her working career as a volunteer, CAN, and then, Therapeutic Recreation Director at Hewitt Hospital. Patty graduated Holy Cross High School, Wtby, in 1980. She attended Sacred Heart University and graduated Post College, Wtby, on the dean's list which her parents were proud of. In Patty's spare time she enjoyed tending her flower beds, remodeling her house and instructing her father how to properly mow her lawn. Also, she loved her beautiful black cat, Tippy who would wait and talk to her when she arrived home. Her untimely passing was a shock to all who know her and she was grateful to all her Doctors and Medical staff. She was a communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour. Patty will be sadly missed by her family and her many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Patricia's life will be held DIRECTLY at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Springtime interment in Mountain Meadows Cemetery, Seymour. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 9 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts in Patricia's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services through the funeral home.
