Shirley Kurdy, 87, a lifelong resident of Seymour, CT, was called home to the loving arms of the Lord on June 25, 2024. She was the cherished wife of the late John Kurdy, Sr.
Shirley was born June 25, 1937. Beloved daughter of the late Hazel and Frank Brooks.
Her devotion was to her family including her late husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Together they shared many family vacations creating lasting and cherished memories.

Shirley spent many years as an avid bowler with her sister, Betty Lou and traveling extensively with her sister-in-law, Eleanor Kurdy. She remained an active member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Seymour.
Shirley is survived by her loving children, AnnMarie Lamanna (Greg), John Kurdy, Jr. (Nancy), and Cindy Saulenas(Jack), as well as her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is fondly remembered by her sister, Betty Lou Perrett (Rudy) and her brother Howard Brooks along with several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her sister Jean Budzonsky, brother Frank Brooks and her granddaughter Brianna Hughes.

The family would like to thank the staff at Smithfield Gardens, Seymour and Glendale Complete Care in Naugatuck for the exceptional and compassionate care given to Shirley.
Though Shirley may no longer be with us, her spirit will forever shine bright in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am in the chapel of the Miller-Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank St.(Rt.67 across from Klaridies Village) Seymour. Shirley’s funeral will then proceed to Church of the Good Shepherd of St. Nicholas Parish, 135 Mountain Rd., Seymour, for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:30 am. Entombment will follow in Mount St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley’s honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
