Carol P. Matthews

Carol Panda Matthews, 82, of Oxford, passed away after a long illness on December 29, 2025, at home with her family by her side.

Carol was born on November 4, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT, the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Galaty Panda. She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Andrew Warde High School. Upon graduation, she married Andrew Matthews, who predeceased her. After raising her family, she worked as a teller at Derby Savings Bank, an as an Insurance Analyst at The Equitable Life Assurance Company, and then lovingly took care of her parents and her mother-in-law, Anna Matthews, until their deaths.

She enjoyed spending time in her flower gardens and had a great love of animals. Some of her fondest memories also included time on her father’s boat and her summers at Swan Lake, as well as long rides and vacationing on the back of the motorcycle with her husband and their friends.

Carol is survived by her children Randy Matthews (Kathleen) of Seymour, Scott Matthews (Denise) of Oxford and Russell Matthews of Seymour, as well as her grandchildren, Jeffrey Jones, Thomas Jones, Andrew (Britney), Alyssa Pinsonneault (Sam), Kristopher (Fatima), Kolin (Jenny), Kameron (Lauren), Courtney Barden and eight great grandchildren with one more on the way. She also leaves behind her beloved brother, Michael, and his two sons, Wayne (Charlie) and Troy (Jennifer).

Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 5, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a prayer service to follow at Macari-Miller Funeral Home, located at 260 Bank Street, Seymour, with burial to be at a later date to be determined by the family.
