Diane Marie Federowicz of Oxford CT passed away on May 2, her 71st birthday, surrounded by her beloved family.

Diane was born on May 2, 1954, to the late Louis and Lucille (Cash) Fattarusso and was raised and educated in Shelton CT before graduating from Quinnipiac University in 1976. She was employed as a medical Technologist at Danbury Hospital for years until her retirement in 2018.

She is survived by her husband William Federowicz of Oxford and their twins Scott (fiancé Danielle Johnson) of Middlebury CT and Jennifer of Seymour CT as well as her brother Lou Fattarusso (Ann) of Binghamton NY, siters-in-law Judy Wood (Kevin) and Cathy Federowicz of Oxford and their children. Diane was predeceased by her in-laws Joseph and Violet Federowicz, daughter-in-law Mindy Reale, and brother-in-law Thomas Federowicz.

Diane will be remembered for generously opening her heart and home to family and friends. The poet Maya Angelou wrote, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Diane made people feel special; it didn't matter if you were a co-worker, neighbor, or friend - she made you feel like family - because to Diane, celebrating family was the way she lived.

Whether it was a birthday, special occasion, or casual backyard gathering, Diane would cook and prepare for days, ending with her signature desserts that rivaled any bakery. If you were a family member, close friend or co-worker, you looked forward to her birthday goodies - specialty cakes or cookies or perhaps a homemade ice cream cake. Her holiday celebrations were grand feasts with an abundance of baked goods packed and ready for guests to take home. Her kitchen, sunroom, and backyard were the center of family gatherings throughout the year. Beyond her home, she was known for her famous cookie trays, which included homemade fudge and other delights, and boxes of cookies as shower and wedding favors for those she loved.

Calling hours will be on Friday, May 9, from 4:00-6:00 pm at Miller Macari Family Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street, Seymour CT 06483. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Oxford Seymour Food Bank (PO Box 178, Seymour CT 06483 or online at seymouroxfordfoodbank.org).
