Donna "Mema" Sorensen

Donna "Mema" Sorensen, age 70, of Seymour, the beloved wife of over 30 years to the late Jimmy Mihalovic, entered into eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport on July 23, 1953, loving daughter of the late Donald and Kathleen LaBrecque Sorensen. Donna was a Class Officer of Stratford High School's Class of 1971 who went on to work for many years as an OBGYN medical assistant prior to her retirement. She was highly active in her community serving as a Pop Warner team mom and an official hair braider, as a board member of Grateful Vibes Only and with Seymour Pink, heading her 5k race team "Irish for a Cure". Over the years, Donna loved learning about her heritage and took many trips to Ireland with her family. She loved everyone she met and made everyone feel like family - and would never let you leave. Donna loved spending time with her family and many friends, especially "The Gold Diggers." She will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. Donna's loving family includes her two daughters Jennifer Edwards and her husband Chris and Colleen Hogue and her husband Aaron, her cherished grandchildren Alyson Waldron, CJ Edwards and Ryan Edwards, her two sisters Patty Farrell and her husband Jimmy and Dr. Krissy Borgognone and her husband Keith, her brother Paul Sorensen and his wife Karen, her two stepdaughters Stephanie Poulos and Kristin Ruszkowski and her husband Stan, her uncle Gerald Sorensen, her uncle and aunt Marie and John Vitka, her godson Christopher Farrell and his wife Kelley, her nieces and nephews Erin Cavanaugh, Missy and Luciano Verdura, Jessica and Anthony Criscuolo, Kaitlin and Mike Fritz, Brett Borgognone, Brynn Borgognone, the Burdo Family and many cousins. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm in the chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) in Seymour. A tribute to Donna by her family will follow at 5:00 pm. All other services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Donna's memory may be made to Seymour Pink's Irish for a Cure team through the funeral home.
