Frank G. Bucknam

Frank Gilbert Bucknam, age 94, of Branford, the beloved husband of the late Clare (Hoffmeister) Bucknam, entered into rest peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in Hartford on April 11, 1923, son of the late Everett and Eleanor (Morrissey) Bucknam. Frank graduated from Loomis School in Windsor in 1941, from Yale University in 1944 and from Harvard Medical School in 1947. Frank proudly served in the US Navy and Naval Reserves for many years at Navy Hospitals around the world including 130th Station Hospital, Heidelberg, Germany and Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Frank also served as the Director of the Institute of Living in Hartford, as a Consultant at the CT Institute of the Blind and in his own Child Psychiatry Private Practice. He was an avid reader and world traveler who loved the beach, especially Cape Cod. Frank volunteered as a historical guide in Wellfleet, MA and Fort Lauderdale, FL, and was active in his church. He will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. His loving family includes his four children Martha Patton, Frank Bucknam III, Matthew Bucknam, and John Bucknam, his six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd.(Rt.218) Bloomfield, CT at 11:00 am.
