Helen Berneice Duda

Helen Berneice Kacergius Duda, age 94, of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Frank M. Duda, Sr., entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. She was born in Derby on October 26,1921, beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Adamulise Kacergius. Helen was a devout communicant of the Church of the Good Shepherd and while a resident of Oxford, was President of the Ladies Guild of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She was a retired employee of the U.S. Rubber Company of Naugatuck. Helen was an avid homemaker who enjoyed cooking and gardening, loved puzzles, reading and crocheting. Most of all, Helen loved being with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all and will forever be in their hearts. Her loving family includes her beloved sons Frank M. Duda, Jr. of Seymour and William M. Duda and his wife Mai of Winnabow, NC, her caring sister Mary Moselle of River Glen Health Care Center of Southbury, her five cherished grandchildren James Duda, Chris Duda, Shannon Duda, Tony Duda and Jackie Weaver, her twelve cherished great grandchildren Brandon, Zachary, Kayla, Christopher, James, Ryan, Dylan, Caitlin, Fern, Fiona, Iris and Vincent and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Berneice Duda, her two loving brothers Albert Kacergius and Anthony Urban and her loving sister Margaret Yesalitis. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Helen's Life will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at 9:00 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 135 Mountain Road, Seymour. Interment in the family plot at St. Augustine Cemetery, Seymour will follow. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Memorial gifts in memory of Helen may be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd Improvement Fund through the funeral home.
