Irene Speake

Irene Speake, age 73, of Oxford, the beloved wife of Thomas R. Speake, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Waterbury Hospital. She was born in Passaic, NJ on August 1, 1950, loving daughter of the late Michael and Mary Hrinya Hadginske. Irene received a bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering and Material Science from the University of Pennsylvania prior to her long career. Her most recent position was as a Metallurgical Engineer with Hamilton Sundstrand of Windsor Locks. She loved doing crossword puzzles and going on cruises with her husband Tom. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and many friends. Irene will be sadly missed by all but will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family in addition to her husband Tom includes her brother Paul Hadginske and his wife Mary Ann of York, PA and her three nephews and one niece. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) in Seymour. Interment will be in the family plot at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ, on Saturday, May 6, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Irene's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
