Jeanette J. Laird

Jeanette Julia Laird, age 85, of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late James W. Laird. Sr., entered into eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Milford Hospital. She was born in Bridgeport on May 9, 1936, the loving daughter of the late Albert and Bertha ( Raugh) Ames. Jeanette was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oxford. She relocated from New Port Richey, Florida to Oxford. She was very active in the Oxford community and had been a democratic poll worker for the Town of Oxford, Jeanette was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary David S. Miles, Post 174 American Legion of Oxford and was a member of the Oxford Senior Center. Jeanette was a member of Sages at The United Church of Christ. Jeanette was a loving and caring person. The best mom and grandma and great-grandma ever. Jeanette's loving family includes her son James William Laird, Jr. (Susan) of Milford, two daughters Sharon Trede (Frederick, Jr.) of Southport, NC., and MaryEllen Liptak of Watertown, her brother Roger Ames of Milford, six cherished grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was predeceased by her two cherished great-grandsons James W. Laird, IV., and Gabriel Scinto, her brothers David and Albert Ames, and her sisters Evelyn Dickerson and Edith Donofrio. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Jeanette's Life will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021(Directly) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 25 Great Hill Rd., Oxford, at 11:00 am with Pastor Paul Sinnott, officiating. Masks are required by all attending the church service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends and Family may call on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Rte. 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour, from 4:00-6:00 pm. By request of the family, visitors that are unvaccinated are asked to wear masks. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Jeanette's memory may be made to The Immanuel Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund through the funeral home.
