  • John Vincent DiBiaso of Oxford passed away peacefully at home on April 10, 2026.
First son of Jennie (Mauro) and John S. DiBiaso, Jack graduated from the University of
Connecticut in 1958 with an engineering degree, and promptly married his sweetheart
Elizabeth (“Betty”) Maybury. 1958 was also the year that Jack enlisted in the Army
Reserves; he was honorably discharged as Sgt. First Class in 1964. Jack and Betty
remained deeply in love throughout their long marriage and celebrated their 67 th
wedding anniversary last July. They were fortunate to travel extensively throughout their
marriage. Jack was also an enthusiastic gardener, and he and Betty loved to entertain
their many friends and neighbors on their patio surrounded by his blooming rose
    bushes.

  • Jack began his professional career with United Illuminating in 1960, and while at UI
obtained a second bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He remained at UI until
his retirement in 1994, by which time he was serving as the Director of Demand Side
Operations. Jack also served as President and Treasurer of the CONNSAVE program,
which provided energy-efficient audits for homeowners. (A man who always walked the
walk, he would occasionally remind the family to turn off lights and appliances with
strategically placed reminder notes throughout the house.) He was an incorporator and
director of Valley Bank & Trust, and, in the 1980s, along with two partners, he built and
managed apartment complexes in West Haven and Seymour.
He donated his time and expertise to many volunteer organizations, including the
Shelton Charter Revision Commission, President of the Valley Chamber of Commerce,
and the Trinity Episcopal Church (Seymour) where he served as Senior Warden for ten
years, and Church of the Epiphany where he served on the vestry and prayer team. He
served on the boards of TEAM (Derby), Spooner House of Shelton, and the Southern
Connecticut Chapter of the Red Cross.

  • Jack is survived by his wife Elizabeth, four children, Elizabeth Flynn (David) of
Glastonbury, John C. DiBiaso of Aiken, South Carolina, Kenneth R. DiBiaso (Tammy) of
Chesapeake, VA, and Kathleen Herde (Dave) of Oxford; six grandchildren; Rachel,
Samantha, Travis, Anthony, Katherine and Evan. He was pre-deceased by his brothers
James and Joel DiBiaso. A memorial service will be celebrated at the Church of the
Epiphany , Southbury on Saturday, April 18, at 1pm. The family asks that in lieu of
flowers, well-wishers toast with a sip of Grey Goose and consider a memorial
contribution to the Spooner House (www.actspooner.org) , the Blessings Pantry of
Trinity Episcopal Church in Seymour or the Sandwich Brigade of Church of the
    Epiphany, Southbury.
