Marjorie Guggenheim Bailie, age 93 of Woodbridge, the beloved wife of the late Hugh Spencer Bailie, entered into rest on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 after a brief illness. She was born in Stratford, CT to the late Frank D. and Minnie Thompson Guggenheim. Besides living in Stratford and Huntington, CT where she raised her family, Marjorie and Hugh moved to Cortez, CO where they owned and operated Mesa Oasis Campground and Bailie's Antiques. In 1984, they moved to Tucson, AZ, where Marjorie was a bookkeeper at F.W. Woolworth Co. and a volunteer at Tucson Medical Center for seventeen years. She then returned to CT in 2001. Marjorie had many pleasures in her life. Her creativity showed in her love of sewing and quilting; family and friends were the recipients of her beautiful, handmade treasures. She passed along her love of sewing by teaching her daughters and granddaughters. Marjorie was an avid reader, cryptogram and crossword puzzle enthusiast, and competitor in card and word games. Her passion for watching all types of sports rounded out her many interests. UCONN heading the list of teams for whom she cheered. As a member of the Oxford United Church of Christ, Marjorie embraced her faith and participated in events to support her church community. Marjorie's family and friends were touched by her gentle spirit, patience, and loving heart. She maintained many friendships through her lifetime. Her love for her family was evident by her joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the heart of her family, and they were blessed to have had her in their lives. Marge was the loving mother of daughters Penny Phipps (Richard) of Oxford and Kathy Benton (Roger) of Mesa, AZ; and her son Kevin Bailie and his wife Susan Maria of Oxford. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bethany (Robert) Didato, Bryan (Deana) Phipps, Colleen Bailie, Scott (Kate) Bailie, Erin Bailie, and Michael (Erin) Bailie and eight cherished great-grandchildren: Anthony and Thomas Didato, Emily and Lillian Phipps, Elizabeth, Aaron and Sarah Bailie, and Cooper Bailie. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Deborah (Emile Goulette) Bailie of Ellenton, FL. In addition to her husband Hugh, Marjorie was predeceased by her son Jeffrey S. Bailie, and brother Dudley L. Guggenheim.
