Mary C. Kennedy

Mary Catharine Kennedy, age 97 , of Oxford, the beloved wife of the late William C. Kennedy Sr. entered into eternal rest peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Torrington Health and Rehabilitation Health Center, Torrington, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Derby, CT on July 27, 1918, the beloved daughter of the John and Catharine Lynch Kerwin. Mary graduated from Derby High School. Mary was a buyer for Malley's Dept. Store, New Haven in their Book Dept. She then worked for the Town of Oxford as Head Librarian for many years. She was a member of the Oxford Senior Center. Mary was a homemaker who was an avid reader and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved going to Orleans, Cape Cod and loved to watch the sunset at Skaket Beach. Mary will be sadly missed by her family and will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her devoted son William C. Kennedy Jr. and his wife Marie of Litchfield, a loving daughter Geraldine Pierce of Acton, MA., eleven cherished grandchildren and twenty-four cherished great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving son John Kennedy, a loving son-in-law John Pierce and cherished grandson Michael Pierce. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment in the family plot will follow at Southford Cemetery, Oxford. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning, November 12, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
