Richard J. Madigosky, 76, of Seymour, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Richard was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, on June 15, 1945, with the family moving to Seymour, CT, when he was a young child. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army, and upon his return to civilian life he was employed as a machinist at the Farrell Corporation in Ansonia. Richard was a Supernumery Officer with the Seymour Police Department, a Founding Member of the Seymour Ambulance Association, an Honorary Member of the Beacon Hose Co No 1, and a 52-year Member and Past Captain of Citizens' Engine Co. No. 2 in the Seymour Fire Department. Along with service to his country and his community, service to his loved ones was always his top priority. A "Jack of all trades", Richard could often be found helping family and friends with a wide variety of projects and events, typically being the first one working and the last one to quit for the day. Richard was predeceased by his beloved parents, John Madigosky and Monica Schuster Madigosky, and his younger brother, John Madigosky. He is survived and dearly missed by several cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as countless friends who consider him family. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT 67, across from Klarides Village) in Seymour. Guest will be asked to wear masks when inside the funeral home. Burial, with full military honors accorded, will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Augustine Cemetery in Seymour.
