Rosalinde "Linda" Vasko

Rosalinde "Linda" Vasko, 80, of Torrington, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2026, in her home surrounded by family.

Born July 7, 1946, in Austria to Peter and Rosalia Martin, Linda was raised in Wels. At 18, she came to America as a beautiful and proud young woman. She remained deeply connected to her Austrian heritage while embracing her new home and eventually becoming a proud United States citizen.

Linda was the beloved wife of Sandor Vasko for 60 years. Together, they built a life that embodied the American dream. They started their family in Monroe before building a beautiful home in Oxford-a place filled with warmth, love, food, laughter, and every holiday, where everyone always wanted to be.

She was a devoted mother to Peter Vasko and Claudia Woodford, guiding them through life with wisdom, strength, and unconditional love. She was also a grandmother in every sense of the word to Taylor Ciccaglione and Cristian Woodford and their spouses, Patsy Ciccaglione and Sydney Woodford. As well as Peter Vasko Jr. She cherished them deeply.

Linda was fortunate to become a great-grandmother to Dominic, Carson, and Amelia.

She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Maria Vasko, who cared for Linda with extraordinary love and compassion. The devotion Maria showed Linda at the end of her life was a gift not only to Linda, but to the entire family.

The holidays were especially sacred to Linda. She created a kind of magic around them that her family will never forget. She started traditions and memories that will be carried on for generations. No holiday will ever feel quite the same without her.

She spoke often of angels and believed in them wholeheartedly. After losing her beloved daughter, Claudia, in 2002, Linda carried an ache that never left, along with a quiet hope that they would one day be together again.

And now, that day has come.

A woman who always believed in angels is now able to walk among them.

Linda leaves behind a family who will spend the rest of their lives carrying pieces of her with them-in the meals they make, the holidays they celebrate, the gardens they tend, the prayers they say, the traditions they continue, and in the way they love one another.

She was deeply loved, fiercely herself, and unforgettable.

Services

Calling hours will be held at Miller Macari Funeral Home on Friday, October 2, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

A funeral service celebrating Linda's life will be held on Saturday, October 3, at 4:00 p.m. at Riverside Community Church.

Burial will follow at the family plot at Riverside Cemetery in Oxford, Connecticut.
