Ruth E. Overton

Ruth E. Overton, age 98, of Derby, formerly of Seymour, the beloved wife of the late Robert T. Overton, entered into rest peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2017 at Birmingham Health Center in Derby. She was born in Ansonia on October 2, 1918, daughter of the late Charles and Florence Thurston. Ruth was a long time Seymour resident and an active member of the Seymour Congregational Church. She was a retired Inspector with the United State Government. Ruth enjoyed playing the piano and loved to do crafts. She will be sadly missed by all and will remain forever in our hearts. Her loving family includes her cousin Daniel Thurston and his wife Claudia of Harwinton and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her brother Robert Finkle. A Funeral Service in Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 10:30 am in the Chapel of the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (RT. 67, opposite Klarides Village) Seymour. Interment will follow in the family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Ansonia. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 9:30 am until the start of the services at 10:30 am. Memorial gifts in memory of Ruth may be made to the Seymour Congregational Church through the funeral home.
