Sara C Brauer

Sara C. (Tawee) Brauer, age 94 of Southbury, CT, went to be with her Lord on May 21, 2026, after a long and happy life. She was the daughter of the late John A. Carter and the late Sallie Henshall Schenk, of Chattanooga, TN. She was the granddaughter of the late George K. and Sara S. Henshall and of August J. and Marie S. Carter. Sara lived in Chattanooga until she was eighteen then moved to New Jersey and later to Connecticut. Besides her parents and grandparents, she was previously deceased by her husband Fred B. Brauer, her brothers John A. (Sonny) Carter, Jr, Kenneth D. (Dru) Schenk and James W. (Jimbo) Schenk, all of Chattanooga and a daughter Jacqueline Ross of Virginia.

She is survived by her dearly loved daughters Rebecca (Wesley) Knecht of Southbury, CT, Marie (Kim) Baugh of Virginia, Patricia (Thomas )Trunkwalter of New Jersey and a son Kenneth (Stephanie) Brauer Sr. of Naugatuck, CT, a sister Jane (Donnie) Buss of Virginia as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and very special cousins, William and Beverly Milner of Chattanooga.

Sara started working at Connecticut National Bank in 1972 and stayed with them through their many name changes until just before they became Bank of America. She retired in 1996 after 25 years. She then became Registrar of Voters for the Town of Seymour, CT for 6 years when she moved to Southbury. She was a member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church for many years.

There will be a memorial service to be held at the Miller Macari Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street Seymour, CT on June 5th from 3 to 6PM. She will be buried in Cleveland Tennessee at the convenience of the family.
