Thomas "Tommy" Caruso, age 51 of Seymour passed unexpectedly on April 20, 2021. Tommy was married to the Love of His Life Deirdre "Dee Dee" for 19 years and was the Loving Father of Christopher, Nicholas, and Michael who are the biggest joy in his life. He leaves behind his beloved Mother, Judy Principi of Englewood Florida and his Father Thomas Caruso and step mother Cathy of Port Saint Lucie Florida. His sister Lisa Fair and brother in law Joe from Walpole, MA. He also leaves behind his nephews and nieces Zach & Mia Fair and Sophia & Charles Monahan. As well as in-laws David and Rita Monahan of Seymour and brother-in-law Tim Monahan. He is predeceased by only several days by his step father and mentor James R. Principi. Tommy graduated from Seymour High School and attended the Connecticut Culinary Institute. He had a passion for fishing, canoeing, football, casinos and spending quality time with his family. He coached Babe Ruth baseball, which he loved. Tommy was the proprietor and chef of Jimmies Place in Seymour, where "everyone knows your name". He was the first one to send a hot meal to someone in need. His huge smile lit up the room and matched his larger than life personality. Tommy was quick witted and could make a silent room laugh at the drop of a dime and was a huge joker. We used to say if he wasn't messing with you, then he didn't like you. Tommy never ended a phone call without saying I love you… Tommy will be missed by so many, but for our family this loss is immeasurable. "My Tommy", the love of my life, my best friend, my soulmate. You gave me love, laughter and craziness for over 20 years and I wouldn't trade it for anything. You gave me the greatest gift, our boys who love their Daddy more than anything and we all know your love for them was endless. Thank you my love, thank you for being my person, being the love of endless time, the craziness, the passion, the generousness and gentleness. Thank you for our babies. You will never be away from me because I will never let you go. Always and Forever I Love You, Your Wife Dee Dee He was a great baseball coach, boss and friend (even when us kids were his only employees). He treated everyone he met as if they were his best friends. My Father would do anything for anyone. I've seen him help anyone that needed it, my father never cared about money. He cared about people. No matter how upset or mad he was, you can always find a smile on his face. A true tough on the outside, but soft on the inside man. He was the best role model that he could be even though mom would get mad at him for telling us dirty jokes. Everyone that has met him knows he is one of a kind and I know that he is the coolest, smartest, sweetest, funniest most hardworking man I've ever met or will ever meet. I would do anything just for him to yell at me for being late to work again or for a porchetta sandwich right now. I Love You Dad, Forever and Always #1, Your son, Chris My dad was the funniest, realest guy you could ever meet. He always knew what could get the whole room laughing and was too quick with a joke. He was himself around everyone he met and if he had something to say, he just said it and I always admired him for that. I will never know a better more caring man for the rest of my life than my dad. I Love You, Nicky My dad was the funniest and coolest guy I knew. He could take any situation and make light of it. Even between the back surgeries this guy never slowed down. Whether he was hanging with us or running Jimmies Place restaurant. He is the best cook I knew (ssshhh don't tell my Mom). And I just know from now until the day I die he will be smiling over me with my Grandpa. He will be dearly missed.
