Valentino Albert "Waxy" Angiolette, age 88, of West Haven, formerly of Oxford, the beloved husband of the late Christine McCullough Angiolette, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at the West Haven Veterans Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Bridgeport on November 14, 1923, beloved son of the late Cesare and Anna Angiolette. Waxy was the owner of the former businesses which he operated for many years, Intercity Porter Service, the Woodside Cafe, the Farmill Inn, and most recently Waxy's Cafe of Oxford. He enjoyed boating, shooting pool, auto racing, collecting liquor decanters and spending time with his family. Waxy proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Army Infantry obtaining the rank of Tech 5, with Headquarters Company Third Battalion 310th Infantry Regiment. He served in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. Waxy was also the recipient of the Army Occupation Ribbon Germany. He was a former member of the David S. Miles Post 174, American Legion of Oxford. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. Waxy's loving family includes his devoted children, Anna-Marie Viesto and her husband Frank of Oxford, Valerie Bysczynski and her husband Kevin of Bridgeport, Marc Angiolette and his wife Michelle of Naugatuck, Marge Stevens and her husband Richard of The Villages, FL, and Susan Kaskie and her husband Walter Fountain of Naugatuck, his beloved daughter-in-law Maureen Kaskie of Shelton, his eight cherished grandchildren Robin, Christopher, Jodi, Rick, Joe, Jessica, Krystal, and Gianna, his seven cherished great-grandchildren Michael, Alyssa, Tyler, Allyiah, Jordan, Brooke, and Joey and several loving nieces and nephews. Waxy was predeceased by his beloved son James Kaskie, his two beloved sisters Rose DelVecchio and Mildred Roberts and his dog Missy. A funeral Service in Celebration of Valentino's life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Miller Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank Street (Rt. 67 across from Klarides Village), Seymour with Deacon Michael Kulas Officiating. Interment with full Military Honors Accorded will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call at Miller-Ward Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00am until the beginning of the Service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his memory may be made to David S. Miles Post 174 American Legion, 43 Oxford Road Oxford.
