William (Bill) Johnson, age 87, of Bethany, the beloved husband of 57 years of Carol Casagrande Johnson, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday, May 7, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Haven on March 11, 1931, beloved son of the late Elsie and Oscar Stocker. Bill was a 51 year resident of Bethany and a graduate of Hillhouse High School in New Haven. He proudly served his country in the Korean War as a member of the US Marine Corp. Bill's life was devoted to teaching and coaching where he impacted many lives. His sense of humor and wit were with him until the end as well as his love and caring for people. Most of all, Bill loved to spend time with his family and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all and will be forever in our hearts. His family includes a loving daughter Karen Marrone and her husband Al, four caring sons, Bill and his wife Eileen, Scott and his wife Elena, John, and Craig and his wife Joy, twelve cherished grandchildren Al, Jamie, Billy, and Michael Marrone, Ashley, Billy and Brittany Johnson, Andy and Michael Johnson and Owen, Alexa and Ryan Johnson and many loving nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brothers Herb and Joe Johnson and his sister Valerie Johnson. A Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Bill's Life will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00 am DIRECTLY at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Road (Rt. 114), Woodbridge. Interment will be private. Friends and relatives may call at the Miller-Ward Funeral Home, 260 Bank St. (Rt. 67, across from Klarides Village), Seymour on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics or to the William Johnson Scholarship Fund, both through the funeral home.
